Forest Restoration Day: 26 years of volunteer support

Thank you to everyone who volunteered during Forest Restoration Day. Hundreds of volunteers helped our staff place over 880 trees during this annual event. We listed all 41 different native species in our event recap.

Restoration takes time and teamwork. Read more about how our nonprofit is planning the Park’s next steps in tornado recovery in After the Storm.

Sustain the tornado recovery in the Park

Tornadoes devastated the St. Louis region on May 16. No area of Forest Park was undisturbed, but the west and north ends were most significantly affected. Over 5,000 trees were impacted, including over 3,000 removed.

Restoration will take years and all of us working together. You can support tornado restoration in Forest Park.

Enjoying autumn in Forest Park

How will the spring and summer weather affect the Park’s foliage and wildlife?

Nature is full of surprises. Summer droughts caused failed reproduction in many plants and lot of flowers in our region have shriveled. But, according to Forest Park Ecologist Amy Witt, pollinators and beetles are going to have a great year!

Our experts share more guidance and things to enjoy this season in Forest Park!

Summer aerial rendering of the Glade, 22.5 acres from the Taylor Kindle River to Kingshighway

Imagine the Glade

Forest Park Forever and the City of St. Louis are proud to partner on the Glade. This community-driven project will transform Steinberg and its surrounding 22.5 acres for activity all year.

The Glade was not impacted on May 16. As tornado recovery and construction continue, our experts are working with local furniture maker Mwanzi Co. to repurpose felled trees into tables and other furniture in the Glade.

Follow progress of the 20-month project on the construction update page of our website.
