Forest Park is the best, now and forever!
Forest Park is the pride of our region. It is a place of joy, where memories of outdoor recreation, culture and family fun are forged, in all seasons. This remains true even after a tornado damaged 5,000 trees last May. Thanks to over 2,000 volunteers stepping in and a community of 6,000 members who support Forest Park Forever, we are thrilled to know our beloved green space and fully accessible playground remain among the best around.
Our nonprofit conservancy has been working to restore, maintain and sustain the City’s most iconic park for nearly 40 years. Forest Park Forever employs experts in education, land management, ecology, conservation, park operations, community engagement and visitor services. We’re now using our expertise to integrate long-term tornado recovery into our annual plans and the master plan for Forest Park.

Forest Park is where St. Louis has come to play for 150 years! This urban habitat contains recreational amenities, waterways, pathways, several playgrounds and natural areas to explore. It’s also home to world-class cultural institutions which each offer free admission for the community: The Saint Louis Art Museum, the Saint Louis Science Center, the Missouri History Museum, The Muny and the Saint Louis Zoo are each fixtures in the Park, and each summer St. Louis Shakespeare Festival holds a month of free performances in Shakespeare Glen.
Size: Over 1,300 acres — two square miles in the heart of the St. Louis region
Attendance: Over 15.5 million visits annually
Outdoors and Nature: 30 miles of paths and trails, 3.35 nautical miles of waterway, 190 acres of Nature Reserve
Accessible Playground: Located next to the Dennis & Judith Jones Visitor and Education Center, Variety Wonderland Playground was one of the first fully accessible public play spaces in the St. Louis region. We worked with Variety to fund a restoration project in 2021, and the grounds have since become a favorite spot for children of all abilities, adults too.
