Peaceful Lily Pond Near the Jewel Box
Just north of the Vandeventer Place Gates is a pond with a serene scene just waiting to be sketched. There are several benches around the area to rest and take in the sounds of the birds.
Hidden Creek Savanna
Located between Emerson Central Fields and The Muny, Hidden Creek Savanna is just that – hidden. Thanks to the prescribed burn that took place here in January of 2019, this 3-acre restoration site is full of blooming wildflowers right now. There are trails within it, waiting to be explored.
The Boardwalk in Kennedy Forest
Nestled between Picnic Pavilion 11 and Government Drive, the Kennedy Forest Boardwalks lie within a one-mile loop section of Kennedy Forest. You can connect to the rest of Kennedy Forest to add another couple of miles into your trek by passing Government Drive.
Pine Tree Circle in Kennedy Forest
Walk along the dual path on Skinker and enter the chat path to Kennedy Forest and you will stumble upon this circle of unique pine trees in Kennedy Forest. Bonus tip, bring a blanket and lie down to have this fantastic perspective of the tops of the trees.
West Pine Woodland
Located in a quiet area on the northeast side of the Park, the 6-acre West Pine Woodland was created as a distinct and walkable stretch of forest by Forest Park Forever horticulturists in 2015.
Chess Tables Near Steinberg Skating Rink
For the last stop, don’t forget to bring some chess pieces and make your way to the outdoor chess tables just north of Steinberg Skating Rink. The peaceful atmosphere makes for an epic spot to think about your next move.
