Forest Park Forever, in partnership with the City of St. Louis Department of Parks, Recreation, and Forestry, is launching a public survey to gather important community input on planned updates to the Boathouse at Forest Park. The goal of the project is to enhance the overall facility experience for visitors while attracting more guests during the winter months in the park.
The survey seeks feedback from current users and non-users of the Boathouse restaurant, watercraft-related rentals and catering and event spaces. Insights gathered will help shape architectural improvements and potentially new activities at the Boathouse for all park visitors to enjoy throughout the year.
“The Boathouse has become a popular destination since its initial restoration in 2003, and we want to ensure its future reflects the needs and desires of the entire St. Louis community,” said Lesley Hoffarth, President & CEO of Forest Park Forever. “This survey is a chance for everyone—whether they visit the Boathouse regularly or have never been—to share their thoughts on how we can make it even better.”
With a focus on accessibility and year-round enjoyment, the refresh project will consider updates to seating, signage, menu offerings and enhancements to the outdoor areas.
“We’re very excited to hear and receive invaluable public input as we plan Boathouse improvements that help serve our visitors in all seasons,” said Greg Hayes, Director of Parks, Recreation, and Forestry for the City of St. Louis. “Community feedback is essential in helping us make the Boathouse a place that remains welcoming, functional and enjoyable for everyone.”
Forest Park Forever and the City of St. Louis are partnering to encourage broad community participation in the survey. It will be available online, at the Boathouse, recreation centers and other public venues. Surveys will be collected through April 27, 2025.
