2018 I Love Forest Park 5K Recap + Photos
A record-breaking 1,010 people registered for the 2018 I Love Forest Park 5K & Kids Fun Run held in the Park on Sunday, August 26. Runners and walkers of all ages came out for the only run in Forest Park whose proceeds directly benefit the Park. Our eighth annual 5K raised the most money yet — over $34,000 to support necessary Park maintenance. We are grateful to everyone who registered for the event. A special note of thanks to our 2018 sponsors.
We are also grateful for the energy and presence of KMOV’s Marielle Mohs, who emceed the special event.
Prior to the race, trainer Mark Spewak led everyone in a warmup. DJ Shaggy was on-site to pump everyone up before the race started. Once the 5K was underway, runners and walkers enjoyed one of the most beautiful running routes in the region, passing by iconic locations including the World's Fair Pavilion, Emerson Grand Basin, Pagoda Circle and more.
After the race, people of all ages had fun climbing on the rock climbing wall provided by Upper Limits. Runners were also treated to snacks and beverages thanks to donations from Shake Shack, Straub’s and Kaldi’s Coffee.
