SLAM Social—Lunar New Year

Join the St. Louis Art Museum for an event that will feature music, performances, art-making activities, and more in partnership with local organizations on Jan. 24. The event starts at 4 p.m. and lasts until 8 p.m. From 5 to 7 p..m., The Taiwan-Greater St. Louis group will teach paper-cutting arts and traditional Chinese calligraphy. At 7 p.m., the St. Louis Chinese Language School will perform traditional dances alongside a GuZheng performance. 

For many cultures across Asia, Lunar New Year is one of the most important festivals of the year and is associated with an animal from the zodiac. The week-long holiday starts at the end of January this year and marks the beginning of the Year of the Snake. The event will feature music, performances, art-making activities in partnership with local organizations, and a cash bar.

5–7 pm, Sculpture Hall
Join Friends of Taiwan-Greater St. Louis as they teach both Asian paper cutting arts and traditional Chinese calligraphy.

5:30 pm and 6 pm, Sculpture Hall
Students from MICDS will perform a traditional Chinese lion dance.

7 pm, Sculpture Hall
Watch the St. Louis Chinese Language School perform traditional dances alongside a GuZheng performance.
