The exhibition showcases reproductions of the work of Missouri’s first known woman artist, Anna Maria von Phul. Her artwork illustrates life in the Missouri Territory during the 1810s and 1820s, including the people, culture, architecture, and landscape of early St. Louis. Visitors will learn about this fascinating figure from history through reproductions of von Phul’s artwork, letters, and other selections from the MHS collections.
