Requiem of Light: Memorial for those lost to COVID-19

The total number of deaths from COVID-19 since March 2020 is more than an estimated 8,000 St. Louisans and 19,000 Missourians. Join on April 23 for brief ceremony commemorating those we have lost, followed by the lighting of more than 1,000 lanterns around the Grand Basin. The ceremony will begin at 7:30 p.m. and culminate with the lantern lighting. Music by Dr. Philip A. Woodmore and remarks by community and faith leaders will compose the ceremony.

  • “Requiem of Light” is open to all.

  • Seating is first come, first serve on Art Hill and guests should bring their own chairs or blankets.

  • Music will begin at 7:15 p.m. with remarks at 7:30 p.m.
    The requiem will conclude with the lantern lighting ceremony at approximately 8:15 p.m.
