Rebuilding the Path at the Base of Art Hill

How do member and donor dollars improve Forest Park? Last month, Forest Park Forever initiated and funded another important maintenance project — rebuilding the path at the base of Art Hill, just south of the Emerson Grand Basin.

As many walkers and runners know, this highly used path has been deteriorating in recent years. We have been rebuilding the path, starting 6 inches below the surface for a stronger foundation. We recently poured new asphalt, which will soon be covered with a new layer of 3/8-inch chip and seal surface. A new drainage system will help take water away from the path and discharge it to the Basin.

To be reoponed in about 10 days, the new path will be in great shape not just for the Park visitors who use it, but also for the vehicles that need to load and unload there for Park events that millions of visitors have come to love.

Thanks to all of our supporters and partners for making these continual improvements possible.
