FPF Volunteer Spotlight: Episodic Volunteers
Note: During National Volunteer Week, we are shining a daily spotlight on just a few of our wonderful volunteers. Forest Park Forever’s volunteer & visitor services programs are generously supported by the E. Reuben & Gladys Flora Grant Charitable Trust, Trio Foundation and the Saint Louis Service Bureau Foundation. In 2013, Forest Park benefited from 1,180 volunteers who provided 11,868 hours of service and stewardship.
Forest Park Forever concludes National Volunteer Week with a highlight of our episodic volunteers who complete done-in-a-day Park Project Days here in Forest Park.
Episodic opportunities are primarily for groups, such as schools, corporations and community organizations. They participate in a variety of Land Management activities: litter pick up, invasive species removal, mulching, trail restoration and planting projects. In 2013, episodic volunteers donated 1,800 hours of service to support our Land Management program.
On Thursday, April 10, members of the Ritz-Carlton Management Team took part in a Park Project Day. Around a dozen team members donated a morning of service mulching the crabapple trees near the Jewish Tercentenary Memorial.
Thanks to these fantastic volunteers who make Forest Park a more beautiful and sustainable place for all to enjoy — now and forever.
