How to Participate in the #HatsAtHomeChallenge

Forest Park Forever Is Pausing Its Hats at Home Initiative — June 1, 2020

The Forest Park Forever team would like to thank everyone who has participated in the Hats at Home initiative and #HatsAtHomeChallenge thus far, as well as the campaign’s sponsors. With respect for the seriousness of the current moment, we are pausing this campaign rather than continuing into its planned second week. We will reconnect at a future time to recognize the Park and its community of visitors and advocates in an appropriate way.

For the past two months, since the start of the stay-at-home orders, various ‘Challenges at home’ across social media have been trending. The #IceBucketChallenge that started years ago in support of ALS has even made a strong reappearance.

In lieu of our largest fundraiser that would happen this time of the year, the popular Forest Park Forever Hat Luncheon, we are challenging you to show us your best hat at home in support of Forest Park.

If you have not been challenged already by being tagged on social media, how can you participate?

  1. Post on social media a selfie or video of you in your favorite hat in support of Forest Park Forever starting Wednesday, May 27, through June 4, 2020. Hats of any kind are welcome!

  2. Include within your post something like, “I challenge you to a hat off in support of (tag) Forest Park Forever. I nominate (tag up to six people) for the #HatsAtHomeChallenge. Post a selfie in a hat, then nominate six more!”

  3. You can also start a Facebook Fundraiser if you choose to encourage people to support Forest Park Forever’s ongoing care of the Park.

  4. Follow along with the #HatsAtHomeChallenge hashtag across the various platforms to see what people are posting or follow along with the LinkedIn or Facebook Events, where various hat selfies will be posted.

  5. We are also also inviting community members to make a donation to Forest Park Forever below or on the project’s landing page, as we are not able to hold our largest fundraising event of the year. Every donation will support our nonprofit conservancy’s efforts to restore, maintain and sustain Forest Park

Thank you for joining us for the #HatsAtHomeChallenge!
